Tory Burch Comes to SoHo

Tory Burch has just been named one of “New York’s Most Powerful Business Women of 2015”, by Crain New York Business.

This 45 year old, Valley Forge Pennsylvania native is a fashion powerhouse. She started her fashion company a little more than 10 years ago in a retail store in the Nolita neighborhood, and has since been a driving force in the Fashion Industry both here and abroad. Her retail juggernaut is said to be generating more than a billion dollars in sales, and is operating more than 150 stores worldwide.

Her fashion line includes ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, accessories, watches, home décor, and a fragrance and beauty collection. Her collection is also carried at over 3000 stores worldwide.

Now Tory Burch comes to SoHo to create her Flagship location. The location she selected several years ago is 151 Mercer Street. 151 Mercer formerly housed MercBar for over two decades. MercBar used to be a popular hangout for models and SoHo regulars. It was determined that the building was structurally defective so the decision was made to tear it down.

The plans for the brand new townhouse-style building have already been approved. The construction is well on it’s way but as of this publication is hard to tell when it will actually open.

The Flagship store will be a spanking new 12,500-square-foot, four-story building with a possible rooftop garden.

This stretch of Soho is rapidly becoming a destination street. Tory Burch’s flagship store will be right down the street from Dolce & Gabbana “Premiere” location at 155 Mercer Street, and next door to Balenciaga. Not too shabby.
Tory Burch also just announced her new Fellowship Program as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. She will be offering one woman business owner, though her Tory Burch Foundation, a $100.000 grant investment.

The business owner will have to apply to the fellowship program, and be selected to become the winner. Welcome to SoHo Tory!!

Tory rocks!!
